Sharing some resources I find helpful!
Wanted to provide my friends and family with a quilt care reminder. I always machine wash my quilts upon completion before gifting, but in case it needs another wash, here’s the info –
Machine wash cold on gentle cycle, Tumble dry on low heat. If still damp, lay out flat to finish drying.
All of my quilts are machine sewn so machine laundering is fine. For more delicate quilts, read this post by Mary Marlowe Leverette for tips on hand washing and drying.
How often should you wash your quilt? Once a year! Really, unless it’s a baby quilt, you can clean when needed. Households with pets may need an additional cleaning as well, try quarterly.
