SAL Update 8.7.22 | Scarlet Quince

Three weeks have flown by and it’s time for another update. For this update, I have put in 431 stitches and now at 28.1% complete. I’ve been at 27% for a long time, so I’m super happy to be in a new percent!

Here’s where I was before:

and here’s where I am now!

I enjoyed stitching on this piece while finishing the Outlander series. I loved it so much and was sad that the 5 seasons came to end. I’ve decided I would love to listen to the audio books and stitch a Scottish sampler while I listen. My sampler guild recently had a lecture on Scottish sampler clues, where I learned some fascinating history and saw beautifully stitched pieces. If you have a favorite Scottish reproduction sampler, please do leave them in the comments below!

I hope it’s cooler where you are, but if not, stay indoors and get plenty of stitching and sewing in! I couldn’t resist sharing this picture of our backyard squirrel imagining he’s relaxing in a pool at a resort πŸ™‚

the bath has since been refilled for him ❀

We post an update on our own project every three weeks and encourage each other to make more progress and stay motivated. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the SAL group has progressed with their projects this time around. Read along with me by clicking the blog links below:

    • Yes, luckily he isn’t very scared of people who feed him, so he just waited about 3 feet away as I filled it back up with water. The drought and triple digit temps here dries up the bath within a day!

      • yes I’ve been constantly filling up bowls with fresh water for all our animals and hens. Hens like cold water, and it heats up to “very warm” in no time at all.

  1. 1st that squirrel – how cute. We have a resident squirrel I named friendly – he lounges on our lattice fence in quite the same sprawled out position. Lots of lovely progress at your end. Enjoy!

    • Thanks Sharon! Yes they do the same on my fence too. I had to Google it long ago and read that’s how they cool themselves. So cute!

  2. I was enjoying 80 degree weather with low humidity in California for the last week and came home to mid 90s and high humidty where it feels like it is over 100 degrees. Ugh! I can see how much you have filled in recently on your stitching. That squirrel looks so forlorn. I am glad you refilled the squirrel pool…um bird bath.
