SAL Update 9.13.20

Happy Sunday everyone! Well, I did manage to finish Block 13…but last night, as I was soaking it to remove the printed stabilizer I forgot and then soon realized that I used a variegated pink thread that is NOT colorfast…So you can imagine what you’re about to see when you scroll down. But first, this is where I was last time:

BEFORE

And here’s the completed block! It’s not too bad, I know. My plan of action to correct is simply to stitch in more pink flowers to cover the pink dye. I did use a little upholstery spot cleaner to help treat the area. Therefore, I did not bother with pressing the block and will do so after I stitch those extra flowers.

AFTER

On the next update, I’ll show a corrected flower basket and a start on Block 14!

We post an update on our own project every three weeks and encourage each other to make more progress and stay motivated. I’m looking forward to seeing how the rest of the SAL group has progressed with their projects this time around. Read along with me by clicking the blog links below:

  1. I don’t know, it looks like the pink flowers just have a bit of a glow to them. Maybe leave it be while you start the next one, and give it another look in a week or so, unless it is really obvious in person. That is a sweet block!

    • Thanks Kathy! That is a sweet way to look at it. The photo does wash it out a little and is more pink in person. But I will definitely consider leaving the glow ☺️

  2. It looks lovely nonetheless – My opinion is, if you think it doesn’t look right, you can always make it “artful” if you used drops of dye to give it a stained effect for example. Make it look deliberate !

    • Thank you! How funny, I did think of that as an alternate solution!! But figured I would then feel obligated to stain all the blocks! Lol. I think adding in a few more flowers over it will be the way to go for my sanity 😂
