January 2019 WIPs

My goal for this year is to blog each month about my works in progress. Especially now that I have more projects in my rotation, it would be nice to show you what I worked on.

I mentioned in a previous post that I decided to join some stitchers on Instagram to stitch on a Prairie Schooler each month. The idea is to start a new pattern each month, but I decided to simply work on a wip at least 1 week each month. When I finish one, I can treat myself to a new Prairie Schooler start. You can see everyone’s progress here #averyprairieyearSAL.

The Prairie Schooler I have is Where There are Bees. I purchased the pattern last year all kitted up and ready to go! I’m stitching it on 32 count white Jobelan using called for DMC colors. I decided to make a matching project bag, which I actually completed before the new year in anticipation for my start.

During the first week of January, I made my start on the center motif. I then continued into the lower bottom corner during week 3.

I then made another project bag for my Purple Martin Apiary by Shakespeare’s Peddler. The chart was designed exclusively for Jen’s Stitching Niche on Etsy and you can find it here.

I started this project in July, 2018. I’ve been very eager to stitch on this, but it’s very slow stitching as it’s a little hard to see. I’m stitching this on 40 count Black Forest by Lakeside Linens using the called for Weeks Dye Works floss. I finished the bees, added the left side border, and made a start on the bee hives.

My final project, that I started in January, is my lunchtime project. It’s called The Ones You Love by Teresa Kogut. Teresa recently started making flosstube videos and to thank her viewers for their kindness and support, she designed a free chart as a gift. I definitely recommend her channel so please check her out if you haven’t already! I decided to stitch this on my fabric of the month by Colour and Cotton. It’s a 32 count belfast linen in Cornflower Blue. I’m using most of the called for DMC colors, but what I didn’t have in my stash, I substituted with a very similar color.

While there hasn’t been much gardening during the winter season, I would like to share with you my blooming Hellebore ❀

I hope to have more quilting progress to share with you by the end of February. I’ve been working on my king size quilt commission and I’m making some great progress. It should be worth showing on my next update. See you then!

    • Thank you! I find it fun to plan out my projects! I’m also using the app Decision Roulette to randomly selects two projects a month.
