Cross Stitch Ornaments 2018

I managed to fully finish two ornaments from the Noah’s Christmas Ark series by Plum Street Samplers. Both of my ornaments are backed with Moda fabric and I added two strands of burlap twine around the ornament leaving a loop on the top for hanging. I also sewed on two little bells to the bottom of the ornament. The finish is very similar to how the original models are finished on the cover of the chart.

I also finished my Just Nan Gingerbread Reindeer Mouse. This was a very quick stitch! It was my first time using Kreinik thread, which proved difficult, and my first time beading. The beading was fun! The only part that I struggled with was gathering and finishing the base of the mouse for him to stand. I’m not showing it very close up, because it’s not very pretty, and there’s not many tutorials out there. I found two tutorials and even those did not follow the directions exactly, perhaps due to the same issue. I would like to make more in the future though because the finish is extremely adorable!

The last ornament I finished was originally started for an ornament exchange that ended up not happening, so I gifted it to a friend who also cross stitches. I know she will appreciate the work that went into it and enjoy it every year on her Christmas tree. The pattern is Noel by Nikys Creations and it can be found in the 2018 Ornament issue of Just Cross Stitch Magazine. I finished it into a pillow ornament with lace trim, a buffalo check hanger, and backed in Moda fabric.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my ornaments! I think I will need a bigger Christmas tree to hold all the ornaments I plan on making next year 🙂

    • Thank you! The mouse sews up in a triangular shape and you cut about 1/2″ out. Then it easily rolls into a cone held with a whip stitch. Super easy! I just had trouble closing the base, but definitely doable! Merry Christmas!
