It was suppose to be a stormy day today, but so far it’s just cloudy and foggy. It appears dreary outside, but the birds are chirpier than ever! I can even hear a woodpecker out there. They’re definitely enjoying this weather and I’m looking forward to the approaching Spring season.
For now, I’m stitching away and working on that project goal list of mine. I completed a quilt yesterday and am cuddled in it now as I blog. I look forward to sharing the finished quilt with you soon. Until then, check out the progress I’ve made on my classic Winnie the Pooh cross-stitch.
Pooh has a nose! What I love the most about classic vs modern Pooh, is that button nose of his ❤
I noticed the line of new stitching going from one page of the pattern to another…I’m sure it will blend in as the new stitching ages like the old stitching. I guess I should continue with the color I’m working on, even if that means I’m working from two pages at once. What do you do? Do you stick to one page of the pattern until it’s complete, or do you work off multiple pages so you can continue with a color/shape?

Looking good. Can’t wait to see more of Eeyore, love that grey shade of his. We should plan for a stitch day, no machines, just hand stitch.

Pooh and piglet are coming along great. To avoid the lines between pages I always finish a color if it goes onto the next page. I never end page on a straight line.

It’s looking great. I tend to stick to one page at a time. However, I do use many needles at once and leave them threaded up with the remaining thread, ready to pick up the next time I need that colour. I find it saves loads of time, especially on a project that has lots of thread changes.

Luckily, this one doesn’t have too many changes, but I did buy a nifty needle holder that has spaces to write the color for each needle and thread. I plan to use it when I pick my Scarlet quince back up.

My daughter bought me one of those needle holders. That’s what I use. It’s brillliant!

Good luck with that switch from page one to page two. Personally, I avoid projects that involve that kind of issue! But then, I’m not a cross stitcher the way you are. 😉 I’ll be looking forward to seeing what comes next, Piglet’s shirt or more of Eeyore!

Right now I’m just working on one page at a time, even if I only do one stitch of a color. I think whatever works for you is just fine.

I too prefer one page at a time, but I’m not liking the ridge of threads on the back caused from stopping and starting the same color. I feel like it’s noticable on the front, but maybe that’s just me 😏

I do a page at a time, but since I tend to make samplers and work in very simple colour schemes or single colours, it’s never been an issue. On the rare occasions when I do work from a symbol chart, I find the focal point of the piece (to my eye, at any rate) and work outwards from that. It helps my brain stay on track!

I’ve yet to try a sampler, one day I’ll start one of those 😊 Yes, I like to start on the middle of the pattern and middle of the fabric to not hurt my brain on the math and measuring, lol!

I try to finish one color even when it is in different pages or at least stitch so that there is not a straight line when I go on with another color. Then, on the other hand as you can see on my embroidery at the moment, I sometimes just stop in the middle! I like your embroidery!
