Hi friends! I’m excited about this post because I get to share with you my latest creation that was specifically made for my hand sewing projects. While I didn’t get much of the actual stitching done on my cross stitch, I was able to complete my Portable Portfolio by The Creative Thimble. I’ve been carrying around my project in a vanilla folder and zip lock baggie. The pattern, along with the fabric, was purchased at the International Quilt Festival last year and I’ve been eager to get this project complete so I can retire the folder 🙂
There’s a little more shimmer in person. I love the gold kitty faces and the matching gold ribbon I selected for the handles. As you can see, there are two main vinyl pockets and two smaller zip pockets that are sewn in down the middle. Adding the vinyl was probably my most challenging step in the pattern and I even had to modify it a little to fit properly, but you really can’t tell where 🙂 This was a day long project and now the sewing room needs some cleaning!
Looking forward to seeing how everyone in the SAL group is progressing on their projects! Join me by clicking on the member blog links below:

Happy Stitching!
I’m glad to know I am not the only one using a zip lock bag!!! Oh, now I probably am the only one. WHat a cool bag, and with all the right spaces it appears!

haha! I bet a few of us were/are using them 🙂 Thank you! Yes, I’ve seen all kinds of organizational bags at the shows, but this one really made an impression on me. We’ll see how it does.

Yes! He was there last update, but just his outline was forming. Now that I’m filling him in, he’s more visible. Can’t wait to see the bag you’re making! I’ll be ready to help you with this bag if you decide to make it. Couldn’t find the gold zippers I had wanted, but these simple black ones will do.

Most definitely! When I was traveling with it before, items were always slipping out of my folder…I’m sure there was something else I could have used before, but that stuck until now 🙂 Thank you!

You should make one! Would love to see it 🙂 They definitely come in handy. Staying organized keeps me sane with all the stitching and sewing that goes on around here!

Thanks Susan! I’ve been loving it 😁 Another great thing, it makes me remove my project from the hoop. A habit I once had.

Yes, I wondered to myself how they came up with the pattern. It was definitely a challenge, but I’m loving it! Thank you!
