Our first SAL update for the new year! I’m feeling pretty good about this one! I’m almost done with a page from this cross stitch pattern and as you can see someone else has made an appearance 🙂 Also, check out this wonderful thread catcher my mom made me! It’s fantastic for not only holding onto all those little snippets, but for minding my thread in use too. When mom told me she was making me one, I told her, “Good, my husband keeps finding the pile next to the couch!“

We have a great and our first snow… 1/10 of an inch haha, but it’s Texas so we’re expecting warm 70s by Tuesday again.

Cute stitching! Looking forward to seeing more of Pooh and friends. Love your stitch catcher. I too have started a new pile next to the couch. I have to remember to empty my ort jar from 2016 so I can start new threads. I will save them to put out for the birds in early spring.

Yes, the birds like to weave them into their nests. I have to say that I haven’t had much success of the birds finding mine. I have noticed the local birds like to pull old pieces of dried up plants out of the hanging baskets so I might try putting them in the hanging baskets this year. I have read before of some people actually seeing nests made around their home and can see the fibers they put out woven into them. Here is hoping I add to a few nests this year 😉 Oh I also saw at a fiber fest this last fall where they put pieces of wool into a cake birdfeeder-the little square looking cages-I will have to remember to get a small one and fill that, too. Under the birdfeeder is another great idea, thanks!

Oooh the wool idea is also fantastic. We love the birds here! Cardinals, blue Jays, sparrows, finches, and more! I even keep dried corn cobs for the visiting squirrel 😊

What a clever little thread catcher. I’ve never encountered one like that before. Your mom may have to let you blog a tutorial so we can each make one! At the moment I use a hand-thrown ceramic bowl next to my sewing machine for my threads. I just haul it over to where I’m working when I’m hand stitching, and the rest of the time it’s available for the threads I cut when piecing. 🙂

Piglet is growing, and that thread cather is a great idea, using batting to catch the threads, your mum is very clever.
