Our first SAL update for the new year! I’m feeling pretty good about this one! I’m almost done with a page from this cross stitch pattern and as you can see someone else has made an appearance 🙂 Also, check out this wonderful thread catcher my mom made me! It’s fantastic for not only holding onto all those little snippets, but for minding my thread in use too. When mom told me she was making me one, I told her, “Good, my husband keeps finding the pile next to the couch!“
We are happy to announce 2 new members to our group! Man, we are growing fast!!
Welcome Linda and Catherine! We all have such a wonderful time stitching on different and exciting projects, I know you’ll enjoy being part of the group 🙂

I’m almost done with my cloth napkins and tea towels in the sewing room too. That’s one goal I’m so close to marking off the list! Hope to post on those soon 🙂 Stay warm!
this design is very stitch intensive – I hadn’t realised quite how big it was going to be.

I know! Don’t know why I thought it would be a quick stitch in my first post for this pattern, lol! But I have some great ideas for the finish 😉

Cute stitching! Looking forward to seeing more of Pooh and friends. Love your stitch catcher. I too have started a new pile next to the couch. I have to remember to empty my ort jar from 2016 so I can start new threads. I will save them to put out for the birds in early spring.

That’s a great idea! The birds use them for their nest building? A jar is also a great idea! Thanks Ginny!

Yes, the birds like to weave them into their nests. I have to say that I haven’t had much success of the birds finding mine. I have noticed the local birds like to pull old pieces of dried up plants out of the hanging baskets so I might try putting them in the hanging baskets this year. I have read before of some people actually seeing nests made around their home and can see the fibers they put out woven into them. Here is hoping I add to a few nests this year 😉 Oh I also saw at a fiber fest this last fall where they put pieces of wool into a cake birdfeeder-the little square looking cages-I will have to remember to get a small one and fill that, too. Under the birdfeeder is another great idea, thanks!

Oooh the wool idea is also fantastic. We love the birds here! Cardinals, blue Jays, sparrows, finches, and more! I even keep dried corn cobs for the visiting squirrel 😊

your post brought a smile to my face, piglet is cute! And glad you are enjoying the thread catcher.
I like Ginny idea, save for the birds in early spring. Spread a few under birdfeeder?

Yes! I love that idea! Once the thread catcher gets full, I’ll put in a jar for safe keeping 😊

Pooh bear is coming on beautifully. Love that thread catcher too. What a brilliant idea. Loving the idea of keeping the threads for the birds too. I must do that 🙂

Thank you Carole! Those honey bees on the thread catcher are pairing nicely with Pooh Bear too 😉 So glad we can all share great ideas among each other.

What a clever little thread catcher. I’ve never encountered one like that before. Your mom may have to let you blog a tutorial so we can each make one! At the moment I use a hand-thrown ceramic bowl next to my sewing machine for my threads. I just haul it over to where I’m working when I’m hand stitching, and the rest of the time it’s available for the threads I cut when piecing. 🙂

I’ll have to find out where she encountered this pattern so I can share. A tutorial sounds like a fabulous idea! 😀

Thanks! I like how it’s flat and can easily be put away with the rest of the project.

Piglet is growing, and that thread cather is a great idea, using batting to catch the threads, your mum is very clever.
