The last time I shared with you about my sewing space, we had moved it into the master bedroom. Our master bedroom was long enough to create two spaces; however, we decided to rearrange the furniture again and out went the sewing space back into the guest room. A guest room that was never started…until now! Last weekend we cleaned out the space and painted the walls a beautiful shade of blue. La Fonda Mirage by Valspar really brightened up this space. We added a daybed from Ikea with white and grey linens. This twin daybed pulls out to a full size. Perfect for guests and perfect for small spaces. Across from the bed, I was able to setup my sewing station. I finally learned and used the rolled hem foot that came with my Juki and made the curtains that are hanging in the window above the day bed. Two panels, each made from 2 yards, 36″x 88″ for extra fullness. I sewed a rolled hem around the perimeter of each panel and made a slim pocket for the rod.
Today I sewed together a quick and very simple baby blanket. My co-worker asked me to make a small blanket for her friend who’s having a baby boy. Together we spotted this type of blanket on Instagram and I knew it would be a breeze to create. No quilting, no batting. Just a yard of cotton and a yard of minky. Sewn right sides together, pillow-style, with a little gap to turn right side out. I then top stitched around the perimeter to close up the gap and it turned out beautifully. This blanket is so soft! I want to make more of these to keep on hand for quick baby gifts or for friends and family to purchase.
The cotton is an adorable print of woodland creatures in grey and white by Dear Stella.
Your cat looks beautiful.

Many thanks! Yes, loving the juki! I imagine it will need a good cleaning and oiling from these two projects 😉
