Vibrant Birdie Baby Quilt – Complete!

Super excited to have completed the quilt; it’s also my first completed quilt for 2015. It was quick and easy to make and with such fun fabric, it was a joy to work on. Each of the 10 fabrics were cut into 3 different sizes — a square, small rectangle, and large rectangle. We had fun picking out the assortment for each row. Now you can see the various owl prints, I particularly love the adorable owls with umbrellas ❤ You can also spot the original fabrics, Aglow Sapling and Clover Field, that determined the rest of the color palate. The falling leaves prints were such a great find at Jo-Ann’s — Cloud 9 Premium Quilt Fabric. They added just the right touch to this vibrant baby quilt. See my original post here.

For the quilting, I decided to follow the pattern of straight lines throughout, but I changed it up a little and stopped at the squares, then continued the quilted lines after the squares.

The back of the quilt is a single fabric with a large birdie print. No piecing was required as the top was small enough to fit under a yard of fabric. The colors are bright and fun and perfectly match the front in both color and theme. For the binding, we got additional yardage of the dark taupe print used on the front.

Finally, the signature block, I wanted to scale this down in size. I’m still perfecting which size works best for me. From my scrap fabric, I found a Moda print with all the right colors for the outer border and a cream colored fabric with a shimmer effect, perfect for the signing. I appliqued a tiny bunny with balloons from my reproduction prints onto the label for that final “awe”.
