Vibrant Birdie Baby Quilt

A coworker at my husband’s office is expecting this late spring and so we’re teaming up again to make another baby quilt! Don’t you just love hearing that someone is going to have a baby!? You know you get to be creative and make them a wonderful, cherished gift that will be used for years to come.

I wanted to make this a vibrant, modern quilt for a baby girl with a focus on Teal. On our last fabric shopping day, we spotted these teal and magenta fabrics:

Teal Fat QuartersAglow Sapling in Sloe by Frances Newcombe for Art Gallery Fabrics and Clover Field by Katy Jones for Art Gallery Fabrics.

I’m following the Block Party quilt pattern by Allison Harris, found in the first issue of Love Patchwork &Quilting. The pattern requires 10 – 1/4 yards and will finish at 36″ x 40″.

Here’s the array of fabrics we found that coordinate perfectly with our original findings:

  1. Such gorgeous fabric – can’t wait to see the finished result. I know exactly what you mean about the news of a new baby – so looking forward to giving the blanket I’m finishing to little Penelope! 🙂
